The most asked question when I announce my plans to move abroad for one year to Ireland, is “Why Ireland”? To that, I reply: “Why not Ireland!? Come for the scenery, stay for the people, and challenge yourself in the rain!”
The second question that often follows the first is an inquiry as to whether or not I’m venturing into this adventure on my own. The answer is a resonating YES! I have often carved out my own path to doing things, and this will be no different.
The plan is to pack a small pack (50L) and a small 30L carry-on bag. That should be enough to get me started in Ireland while I figure out where I want to live and work. After that, all bets are off on things I might acquire along the way and send home periodically to remember what might be one of the most life-changing experiences of my life.
I left Canada on January 9th, and landed in Dublin on January 10th 2017.
